Chapter Text
The bell rings, and Dazai is off to the gym. His math was easy, and history was the same: learning about Pocahontas. He’s excited but nervous about practicing. He doesn’t know why, though. Maybe it’s because he’s been gone, but that wouldn’t make sense.
He continues to think about why he’s so nervous until he bumps into someone. He looks up and sees Kunkida. He smiles and waves at him.
“Heyo Glasses-san! How do you do?” Dazai waits for Kunikida’s reaction to the nickname.
“Dazai. What did I say about that nickname?” Kunikida kind of sounds pissed, which kind of sounds hot but-
‘Wait a minute. What the f*ck?’ Dazai thinks to himself as his cheeks grow a reddish hue.
“Yeah yeah, Glasses-san. But I love the nickname y’know?-” Dazai gets caught off guard with Kunikida pinning him to the wall next to him.
Dazai immediately turns a cherry red and looks away from Kunikida. He doesn’t know what’s gotten into him, but it’s kind of hot. Dazai clears his throat.
“Uh.. Kunikida..?” Kunikida is staring into Dazai’s eyes. It seems like he’s lost in thought when suddenly someone comes around the corner. Kunikida immediately moves away from Dazai with rosy cheeks and quickly walks to the gym.
“What was that about?” The person was Atsushi. The white-headed boy tilts his head slightly and looks at Dazai questioningly. He seems to have sensed the tension between the two.
“Oh hi, Atsushi! I have… no clue..” Dazai tilts his head with a small smile and looks at Atsushi with determination. “Are you ready for the practice match against the Port Mafia?”
“Hell yeah! I can’t wait!” Atsushi looked extremely excited. His eyes are sparkling and he looks like a kitten that’s exploring.
Dazai laughs at Atsushi’s face. It’s funny to him but… He can’t stop thinking about Kunikida. He’s… acting weird. It is severely weird. Kunikida seems upset. It was weird seeing him so upset. Well, not weird but… different.
Dazai tries to not let it get to him, he fails. The thoughts jumble his mind about Kunikida as he walks into the gym with the rest of his teammates. He looks up at Atsushi and beams.
“You’ll be great, right Atsushi-kun, right?” Dazai asks in a cheerful voice.
“Of course he will! He’s awesome!” Kenji relies for him as Atsushi turns a slight red color at the praise.
Coach f*ckuzawa walks through the door with Naomi and Yosano. He looks at everyone and then another person come through the door.
“Ranpo-san! You’re back!” Tanizaki shouts, obviously excited about their libero being back.
“It’s not like I died. Calm down. It was just suspension.” Ranpo sighs, already tired of his teammates, but he looked relieved to be back.
f*ckuzawa leads the team to the bus to head to another part of Yokohama. While Yokohama is huge, the ADA is in a more rural part. Therefore, it doesn’t share the same area. The bus ride there is about two hours long. By the time the bus actually starts moving, Dazai is fast asleep.
“Pssstt… Kunikida.” Ranpo whispers next to the boy.
Kunikida sighs and looks at Ranpo, “Yes, Ranpo?”
“Have you talked to Dazai yet? About how your inlo-”
Kunikida stops him from finishing his sentence by shoving a hand into his mouth. He sighs, once again, and shakes his head.
“There hasn’t been a time for me to do so. Plus, I can’t just walk up to him and declare my love for him.” Kunikida looks as if he’s exasperated.
“Listen Doppo. Just do what I did to Poe. Kiss him. That’ll show him that you like him.” Ranpo says, as if he’s so skilled with romance.
“What? No! I don’t know how he’ll react. That’s insane.”
Ranpo shrugs his shoulders and looks at Kunikida with a smug expression. “At least I have the balls to do it.”
Kunikida stares at Ranpo and sighs, again. He doesn’t know how we’ll do it. Or if he even will. He should, confess, that is. Even if it’ll ruin his chances with Dazai. It’ll make him feel better and not so tight. Or hor- Kunikida quickly shoves that thought out of his head. He instead focuses on Dazai. How his eyelashes look perfectly curled and his hair looks so soft.
Kunikida spends the rest of his time on the bus thinking of ideas on how to confess to Dazai. He writes it in his notebook, his ideals, and quickly shoves it and his ideas away when they arrive to the Port Mafia’s school.
Outside the school stands a red-head and a black headed boy. They stare at the bus with an unfamiliar sense until the people started to file out of it. As soon as Dazai steps out, the black-headed boy zips to him side.
“Dazai-san! How are you? How’s your mom? Is she doing okay? I heard she was in the hos-” Dazai quickly shuts him up with a glare.
“Akutagawa! I’m okay. She’s alright. Now hush your mouth.” Dazai responds coldly and the continues. “Sorry. Touchy subject. Let’s talk about something else.”
Akutagawa and Dazai walk down the path and into the school. Chuuya sighs and meets f*ckuzawa near the bus.
“Sorry about him. He seems a little excited to see Dazai. I can bring you guys to the gym and the locker rooms. Coach Mori is excited to see what the future competition will bring.” Chuuya smiles slightly at the rest of the team and leads them to the gym and locker rooms.
Mori and f*ckuzawa meet at the doors of the gym and begin to talk. About the Jamboree that’s coming and how The Decay of Angel’s will be there and a notorious team from American that just transferred.
Dazai sees the rest of the team from the Port Mafia and waves. He slightly smiles and goes with the rest of his team to the locker room to change. Once in there, he was loaded with questions.
“How do you know them?”
