This time of year is the busiest for ITS as our whole division puts in the extra effort to get technology ready to go for our schools. They work behind the scenes setting up Wi-Fi, preparing laptops, thwarting cyberattacks, training staff, configuring systems, and more. Here are pictures of just two examples, Clifford Scarborough, M.Ed. making sure interactive flat panels are properly installed at our new Turie T. Small Elementary and Christa Chapple representing ITS & promoting our Parent Portal campaign at the Backpack Bash event today.

Our Volusia County School District's Cabinet had a great retreat where we strengthened our bonds of communication, problem solved current issues, coordinated our ways of work, and fine tuned our strategic plan. I am so proud to be a part of such a great leadership team under the strong superintendence of Dr. Carmen Balgobin.

Volusia County School District is on the rise! There is a lot to unpack here such as four of our high schools moving up to the "A" level. But the best story to me is how well the district is working together as a whole. Every school, department, and division is pulling the rope in the same direction toward continual improvement. It's exciting times to work in VCS. The ITS Division is running at full speed to get the district ready to go for another successful school year with more improvement efforts on the horizon.

There is a positive and negative side to all technology. The negative side gets a lot more press. Here is an example of the positive effects people can create with technology.

The Volusia County School District's ITS Division held their annual Summer All Staff Meeting. It is not easy shutting down an ITS Division in a big district like ours since there's always someone wanting ITS assistance. We had a great meeting with updates from all four ITS Departments, presentations on AI, CTE, Customer Service, and Student/Staff User Feedback. We also gave four ITS Excellence Awards to some of our outstanding staff. The awards went to Krissy Mollo, Coordinator of Teaching & Learning Applications, Smith Sabin, Field Support Technician, Sebastian Cabeza, Senior Systems Analyst, and Karen Donohue, Lead Network Engineer.
